Report on Five-Day Faculty Development Programme
The Chandigarh College of Hospitality successfully conducted a highly enriching Five-Day Faculty Development Programme from 6th to 10th July 2026. The FDP, titled “Future-Centric Hospitality Education: AI Integration & Entrepreneurial Pedagogy,” aimed at equipping faculty members with modern technological tools and innovative pedagogical approaches to transform hospitality and tourism education. Through expert sessions, practical demonstrations, and interactive activities, the programme fostered a forward-thinking mindset among participants and highlighted the importance of AI and entrepreneurship in academic excellence.
Day 1 (Monday, 6th July 2026) set the tone for the entire week. It began with a motivating Inaugural Ceremony addressed by the Management and College Leadership. Prof. Neha Sharma, Dean RISE, CGC Landran, delivered an insightful session on writing winning research proposals for securing government funding and sponsored projects. Dr. Amresh Panjila spoke on entrepreneurial thinking in service and wellness, while Dr. Deepika Sharma focused on strategies for enhancing publications and research output. The day concluded with an engaging in-class activity session by the IQAC.
Day 2 (Tuesday, 7th July 2026) emphasized entrepreneurship. Prof. Rajat Sandhir, Professor Department of Biochemistry conducted sessions on embedding entrepreneurship and startup modules into the Hospitality & Tourism curriculum. He further explained how to establish Entrepreneurship Cells, Innovation Ecosystems, and Incubation Centres in educational institutions. The afternoon ended with an interactive discussion where faculty members developed actionable plans to promote innovation and startup culture.
Day 3 (Wednesday, 8th July 2026) introduced participants to Generative AI. Mr. Tushar from “The Falcon Technology, Mohali” provided a thorough overview of tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and NotebookLM. He then conducted practical sessions on prompt engineering for lesson plans, syllabi, and academic content development, followed by guidance on using AI for assessment, grading, feedback, and course design.
Day 4 (Thursday, 9th July 2026) was particularly hands-on and practical. Professor Akashdeep from University Institute of Engineering and Technology, Panjab University, Chandigarh, provided extensive hands-on training to faculty members on implementing different AI tools for enhancing their academic work and research in a more efficient way. The sessions covered AI tools for visuals and experiential learning, designing AI-powered simulations, role-play bots, and interactive learning experiences. Participants also learned how to build AI chatbots to improve student engagement. The practical nature of these sessions allowed faculty to directly experiment with various AI applications and understand their real-world utility in teaching and research.
Day 5 (Friday, 10th July 2026) focused on industry integration and policy frameworks. Ms. Amandeep Kaur, Founder and Director, Aura Aviation Academy , Ludhiana discussed integrating Aviation Industry requirements into higher education curricula. Dr. Vimal Kumar, Director Principal, Chandigarh College of Hospitality, CGC Landran, Mohali, elaborated on curriculum delivery of B.Voc. programs under NEP 2020, highlighting multi-entry/multi-exit options, industry linkages, and skill integration. The programme concluded with a Valedictory Session that included feedback collection, certificate distribution, and a vote of thanks by the Organizing Committee.
The FDP proved to be a significant step towards modernizing hospitality education at the college. Faculty members gained valuable skills in AI integration and entrepreneurial pedagogy, which they can now implement in their teaching, research, and departmental initiatives. The programme successfully bridged the gap between traditional methods and future-ready approaches, promising improved student outcomes and stronger industry connections.
