Industrial visit to Citro Lab Private Limited, Derabassi

An industrial visit to Citro Lab Private Limited, Derabassi was organized on 9th February 2025 to provide practical exposure to students regarding food processing, quality control, packaging, and industrial safety practices. The visit aimed to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world industrial operations.

Citro Lab Private Limited is a reputed food processing company involved for water testing sample and soil testing sample. The company follows strict quality standards and complies with food safety regulations to ensure the production of safe and high-quality products. for testing

They explained the complete production process in a systematic manner. We observed the raw material receiving section, where all incoming materials were inspected for quality parameters before being approved for production. Proper storage conditions were maintained to prevent contamination and spoilage.

In the processing unit, we observed various stages including cleaning, sorting, mixing, heating/pasteurization, filtration, and formulation. The machinery used in the plant was largely automated, ensuring efficiency, consistency, and hygiene. The importance of maintaining temperature control and standardized formulations was clearly explained.

We also visited the Quality Control Laboratory, where physical, chemical, and microbiological tests were conducted. Parameters such as pH, acidity, Brix value, and microbial load were checked to ensure that the products met safety standards. The laboratory staff emphasized the importance of quality assurance in maintaining consumer trust and regulatory compliance.

Strict hygiene and safety practices were maintained throughout the plant. Workers wore protective clothing, gloves, caps, and masks. Handwashing facilities and sanitation procedures were properly implemented. Pest control measures and cleaning schedules were also maintained regularly.. The visit enhanced our understanding of how food industries operate while maintaining safety and quality standards.

The experience was valuable and contributed significantly to our academic learning in food science and technology.
