Pind da Swad – Taste of the Village brings Punjab’s Flavors to CGC Landran
The Chandigarh College of Hospitality at Chandigarh Group of Colleges (CGC) Landran hosted a vibrant theme lunch, “Pind da Swad – Taste of the Village”, at Advanced Training Restaurant (ATR) Block-5, celebrating the rich culinary and cultural heritage of Punjab.
The venue was transformed into a rustic Punjabi village, complete with mud pots, phulkari décor, and folk music. Students and faculty dressed in traditional attire, adding authenticity and charm to the immersive experience. Intermittent cultural performances such as traditional Boliyaan and Giddha added the perfect tempering to the event and allured the audience.
Guests were treated to a lavish spread of Punjabi delicacies, including Hara Bhara Kebab, Dal Panchmel, Badami Pind Paneer, Gobhi Matar Keema, Pindi Chana, Phulkari pulao, and Amritsari Rassa Kukkad. Traditional desserts such as Rooh di Kheer, Naan Khatai, and Panjeeri Ladoo rounded off the menu. Live counters and interactive elements allowed visitors to engage directly with the culinary process.
The event not only delighted the palate but also provided students with valuable exposure to themed event planning, food presentation, and hospitality operations. Faculty members highlighted that such initiatives bridge classroom learning with real-world practice, fostering creativity, teamwork, and customer service skills.
With its authentic flavors and festive atmosphere, Pind da Swad was hailed as a grand success — a celebration of Punjab’s cultural heritage and a showcase of CGC Landran’s commitment to experiential learning in hospitality and tourism education.
